Israelis Unite in Strikes for Hostages' Freedom Amid Gaza Conflict
Thousands of Israelis participated in a nationwide strike to support families of hostages held in Gaza. The demonstration urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate with Hamas to end the war. Concerns mount over military actions risking hostages' lives, while diplomatic efforts show limited success.

Thousands of Israelis participated in a nationwide strike on Sunday, demonstrating in support of families of hostages held in Gaza. The protesters urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate with Hamas for a resolution to the ongoing war and the release of captives.
Carrying Israeli flags and hostages' photos, demonstrators gathered across Israel, blocking major roads and expressing solidarity with the families. Some businesses closed to allow staff participation, although many remained open. Israeli police reported 38 detentions during the protests, which included clashes with law enforcement.
Prime Minister Netanyahu, addressing his cabinet, insisted that an end to the war without defeating Hamas would prolong conflicts. The controversial decision to seize Gaza City remains unpopular, with concerns about the safety of around 50 hostages held by militants. Diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire collapsed in July, and the situation remains tense.
