In an official statement released Tuesday, two constables from the Thane police force have been suspended following charges of serious misconduct and negligence, including the falsification of official documents.
The suspension applies to constables Dattatray Namdev Jadhav and Shivaji Bharat Garje. The decision comes in the wake of an independent investigation revealing their involvement in unethical activities on August 4, according to police officials.
Jadhav, who functioned as a duty distribution officer at the Thane Police Headquarters, allegedly manipulated the duty register to create false entries, misleading senior officials. In a related incident, Garje, tasked with escorting prisoners, reportedly allowed unauthorized transport of two prisoners with the help of eight policemen. This action has previously led to the suspension of nine other officers.
