In a tragic incident in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, a dispute over unpaid wages ended with the death of a worker, prompting police action. Officials report that the contractor of a rice mill, Mohammad Azad, allegedly assaulted the 27-year-old Khurshid Nadaf when he pressed for his wages.
The incident occurred in the Harsenpur area under Nagra police jurisdiction on April 17, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh. Nadaf, who hailed from Darbhanga district in Bihar, succumbed to his injuries from the alleged assault.
Following a complaint from the victim's widow, Ruksana Khatoon, authorities filed a case against Azad on August 4. The detained contractor now faces charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide and remains in judicial custody, pending further investigation.
