The Maharashtra government has elevated the status of the Parshuram Economic Development Corporation's (PEDC) chairman to that of a minister. With an objective to foster self-employment among the economically weaker sections of the Brahmin community, the PEDC is under the leadership of Ashish Damle, an affiliate of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's NCP.
A government resolution highlighted that the chairman is entitled to an honorarium of Rs 7,500 per month. Additional benefits include a sitting allowance for board meetings, reimbursement for telephone expenses, and travel allowances per state norms. Notably, the accommodations differ by city, with Mumbai offering higher compensation than other districts.
While enjoying ministerial rank, Damle does not receive certain privileges such as a red beacon or personal security details. Nonetheless, his position attracts numerous benefits, including a dedicated support staff and vehicle facility, underscoring his elevated role within the government infrastructure.
