In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, arrested two smugglers with smack valued at approximately Rs 2.55 crore. The operation, led by Kairana SHO S P Atri, unfolded on Monday night when officers, acting on a tip-off, stopped a suspect vehicle.

The apprehended individuals, identified as Usman and Insar, now face charges under sections 8 and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Superintendent of Police N P Singh confirmed the arrests and detailed how the confiscated narcotics were believed to be en route from Bareilly to various locations in western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

Law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to dismantle the broader network involved in this illicit trade, seeking to identify and capture additional accomplices connected to the racket.
