In Mizoram, more than 15,000 employees under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) staged a statewide protest, demanding the government regularize their employment status. The demonstration was organized by the All Mizoram CSS Employees Coordination Committee (AMCECC), with protests held across the state.
AMCECC general secretary Vanlalpeka highlighted the long-standing demand for the implementation of the 'Mizoram Regularisation of CSS Employees Scheme,' announced last year. Employees are also calling for the reversal of recent hires under the CSS scheme that bypass standard recruitment procedures.
State Health Secretary H Lalengmawia acknowledged the government's concern for workers, clarifying that regularization is constrained by recruitment rules. The government insists on recruitment through proper channels, citing constitutional requirements, posing challenges for CSS workers primarily from the National Health Mission and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
