Illegal sand mining activities in Jharkhand's Chatra district nearly turned deadly on Tuesday, as a tractor driver tried to run over two village watchmen. The driver was evading a police raid led by Circle Officer Hrithik Kumar.

The confrontation unfolded at Khunti Kewal village, where the tractor involved was abandoned after the encounter. The vehicle was seized by local authorities, and an investigation is underway.

The injured watchmen, Akhilesh Ganjhu and Yogendra Kumar, were immediately taken to a nearby health center. Due to the severity of their injuries, Yogendra Kumar was referred to a hospital in Ranchi. Legal action has been initiated against the suspects, who remain at large.
