Siblings in Crime: A Tale of Two Convictions

In a striking turn of events, two brothers were convicted of separate crimes by the Principal District Judge in Thane, Maharashtra, on the same day. The cases, both marked by violence within the family, highlight deep-rooted issues and the justice system's role in addressing them.

Vishal Arun Alzende received a life sentence for the brutal murder of his mother in 2021. The court heard how a trivial dispute over daily autorickshaw fare spiraled into violence, resulting in Vishal stabbing his mother 50 times with a screwdriver. The case was prosecuted by A P Ladvanjari and Rashmi Kshirsagar.

Meanwhile, Vishal's brother, Vishnu, was convicted of assaulting his grandmother and uncle in an earlier incident from 2016. Though accused of his father's murder, the court acquitted him due to insufficient evidence. Vishnu was sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment, with Sagar Kolhe and Sanjay Gaikwad leading his defense.
