Disillusioned Naxalites Seek New Path, Surrender in Chhattisgarh

Twelve Naxalites, among them five women, turned themselves in to authorities in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district due to dissatisfaction with Maoist ideology and leadership, according to senior police officials.
Nine of the surrendered individuals were wanted with bounties adding up to Rs 18 lakh. Disillusioned by the exploitation and false promises made by top Maoist leaders, the former cadres seek a new beginning, as stated by Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria.
Authorities have promised the surrendering individuals Rs 50,000 each as part of their rehabilitation, a move aligned with governmental policy. This development increases the count of surrenders in the district to 177 this year.
