Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of development projects worth ₹1,723 crore under the Delhi Government’s Seva Pakhwada celebrations in New Delhi today, marking the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event was graced by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Shri Harsh Malhotra, and several other dignitaries.

Celebrating PM Modi’s Birthday through Seva Pakhwada

In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that every citizen in India and people of Indian origin across the globe are praying for the long life and good health of Prime Minister Modi on his 75th birthday. He reminded the audience that since PM Modi assumed office in 2014, his birthday has been observed as Seva Pakhwada (a fortnight of service) from 17th September to 2nd October each year.

Shri Shah explained that during Seva Pakhwada, government offices, state governments, and local panchayats undertake cleanliness drives and welfare initiatives for the poor. He noted that the Delhi Government launched 17 new welfare schemes today, symbolizing the capital’s commitment to this spirit of service.

11 Years of Transformative Governance

The Home Minister highlighted PM Modi’s monumental contributions over the past 11 years, citing that 60 crore poor citizens have gained access to basic facilities and 25 crore people have risen above the poverty line. He called this achievement a historic milestone in poverty alleviation and national upliftment.

Shri Shah emphasized that PM Modi has treated Delhi as an integral part of the nation, providing more than what was due, irrespective of which political party governed the National Capital. He criticized the city’s previous administration for failing to implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme of up to ₹5 lakh for each family, despite central support.

Achievements Under PM Modi’s Leadership

Shri Amit Shah lauded PM Modi’s contributions in areas of national security, cultural revival, and economic growth:

  • Ram Temple in Ayodhya – Fulfilled a centuries-old aspiration with the construction of the grand temple.

  • Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Somnath Temple, and Kartarpur Sahib Corridor – Revitalized India’s religious and cultural heritage.

  • Abrogation of Article 370 – Integrated Jammu & Kashmir fully with India, ending decades of uncertainty.

  • Economic Leap – Elevated India from the 11th to the 4th largest economy, with a projected rise to the 3rd position by 2027.

Shri Shah said that PM Modi has worked without a single day’s rest in 24 years of public service, devoting every moment to the welfare of citizens and the nation’s growth.

Green Energy and Development in Delhi

On the development front, Shri Shah inaugurated the Narela-Bawana Waste-to-Energy Plant, which will process 3,000 tons of waste daily, and announced the operationalization of the Okhla Waste-to-Energy Plant handling 2,000 tons per day. Both facilities will generate electricity from waste, advancing circular economy principles and sustainable energy generation.

He remarked that Delhi, once shamed by towering garbage mounds, is now turning waste into electricity through these projects. This marks a turning point in urban waste management under PM Modi’s vision.

Economic Reforms and Citizen-Centric Policies

Shri Shah underlined PM Modi’s efforts to make governance pro-people and inclusive, noting that:

  • GST on essential items has been slashed from 28% and 18% to 5% or zero.

  • 395 everyday items now attract taxes of only 0% or 5%, making essentials more affordable.

  • Citizens are encouraged to buy Indian-made goods, with the Home Minister urging every family to adopt this as a national habit to strengthen self-reliance.

Vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047

Shri Shah said that PM Modi has set the ambitious goal of making India a developed, secure, and prosperous nation by 2047, coinciding with the centenary of independence. He reiterated that Modi’s governance is guided by determination and selfless service, inspiring the youth to commit themselves to nation-building.

Political Criticism and National Security

In a sharp attack on the opposition, Shri Shah questioned their stance on voter lists, accusing them of supporting infiltrators through what he called the “Ghuspaithiya Bachao Yatra” (Save Infiltrators March). He said that the opposition party aims to protect infiltrators to secure votes, while the Modi government is committed to cleansing the electoral rolls and safeguarding national integrity.

A Fortnight of Service and Commitment

Concluding his address, Shri Amit Shah said that Seva Pakhwada reflects the Modi government’s ethos of service before self, with initiatives across health, cleanliness, welfare, and infrastructure aimed at improving the lives of every Indian. He said the Delhi projects worth ₹1,723 crore are part of this commitment, reinforcing the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
