Authorities in Bhatkal have detained two people following allegations of cattle slaughter and the disposal of remains in a forest near Muggum Colony. The arrests came after a complaint was filed by Maruti, a Deputy Range Forest Officer.

The suspects reportedly trespassed into forest land to discard the remains of cattle slaughtered elsewhere. The case was filed under several sections of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Following an investigation by special teams, the accused were arrested, and the vehicle supposedly used in the crime was seized. The court has since remanded them to judicial custody.
