Yogesh Gupta, a seasoned IPS officer and former Kerala vigilance chief, has approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), contending that the Kerala government's delay in releasing his vigilance clearance is stymying his career advancement.

Gupta, who aims for empanelment as a director general at the Centre, argues that the government's withholding of his report under the guise of a preliminary enquiry is a 'sinister motive' intended to hinder his professional progress.

The Kerala government, however, maintains that Gupta is under enquiry for certain decisions during his tenure, and thus, can't receive clearance. The CAT has reserved its verdict.
