Kerala CM Condemns Police for Handcuffing Students, Orders Probe

Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has voiced strong disapproval of recent police actions involving the handcuffing and head-covering of three Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists. The activists were escorted to court under these conditions following their arrest in a clash with the Student Federation of India (SFI).

During a session in the State Assembly, Vijayan responded to concerns raised by Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan. It was revealed that the students, already restricted from public view for identification purposes, were treated in a manner the CM compared to the handling of criminals and terrorists.

Calling for a fair investigation, Vijayan assured that the Station House Officer (SHO) involved would be relocated pending inquiries while the government reaffirms its stance against such punitive measures towards students.
