Ireland's Leadership Stands Firm Against Attacks on Indian Community

In response to a troubling wave of racially aggravated attacks against Indian nationals in Ireland, the nation's leadership has stepped forward with strong condemnations, offering solace to the affected community. This was highlighted during a meeting between the Indian Envoy to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra, and John Lahart TD, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Mishra acknowledged the decisive condemnations made by key figures such as President Higgins, Deputy Prime Minister Harris, and other officials, stressing that their actions have sent a vital message of reassurance to Indian citizens residing in Ireland, as well as their families in India. Lahart, in his exchange with Mishra, underscored his affinity for the Indian community, particularly highlighting Indian professionals in his constituency.

The discussions also touched on enhancing bilateral ties and economic engagement between Ireland and India. Amidst these discussions, the Ireland India Council postponed its annual 'India Day' celebrations, prioritizing the community's safety following the 'despicable' attacks, as described by President Higgins, reinforcing the bond between the two nations.
