India is grappling with significant internal security challenges due to proxy wars and the influence of ISIS, according to National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General Sadanand Date. He emphasized the importance of eradicating corruption within institutions charged with protecting national security.

Speaking in Pune during a lecture titled 'India's Internal Security and Its Challenges,' Date identified Naxalism, Khalistani elements, separatism, and external infiltrations as ongoing threats. He argued that strengthening democracy and accountability is essential for overcoming these issues.

Date recounted his experience with the formation of Force One, Maharashtra's elite counter-terrorism unit, following the 26/11 attacks. He underscored the unit's development of a culture valuing merit and duty, contributing to the country's robust security framework.
