On Thursday, authorities in Leh filed a First Information Report (FIR) aiming to trace and apprehend those responsible for a deepfake video misleadingly depicting Ladakh Director General of Police (DGP) S D Singh Jamwal.

The controversial video, which has been circulating widely on social media, falsely suggests that climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was arrested following directives from the defense minister. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) confirmed the video's status as a deepfake.
