In a tragic incident on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, two men were killed in a targeted attack outside a synagogue in northwest England. The attack, deemed an act of terrorism, underscores a rising wave of antisemitism in the region, according to authorities.
Greater Manchester Police identified the victims as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66. A suspect, Jihad Al-Shamie, was shot by police after ramming a car into pedestrians and launching a knife attack. Al-Shamie, of Syrian descent, had a fake explosives belt, adding further tension to the scene.
The UK government promises action. Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the act and assured the Jewish community of their safety and support. Police have arrested three individuals linked to the incident as the investigation into the attacker's motives continues.
