India has experienced a significant decline in violent crime rates during the Modi government, according to National Crime Records Bureau data. Murders, rapes, dowry deaths, and riots, which had surged between 2004 and 2014 under UPA rule, have notably decreased over the past decade, making the country safer.

Between 2004 and 2014, reported rape cases nearly doubled, making crimes against women one of that period's most pressing concerns. In contrast, as of 2023, the number of rape cases fell by 19% compared to 2014. Likewise, dowry-related deaths and riot incidents have dropped sharply, demonstrating successful efforts to improve women's safety.

Overall violent crime rates rose by 22% under UPA governance but have since decreased by 29% under the Modi administration. The government has modernized police forces, emphasized internal security, and implemented initiatives like the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network. These efforts have contributed to a more secure Indian society.
