In a significant bust, customs officials apprehended a fashion designer attempting to smuggle six kilograms of hybrid ganja. The arrest took place at Nedumbassery International Airport on Sunday.
The accused, identified as 29-year-old Abdul Jaleel Jasmal from Kodungalloor, was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit shortly after landing from Bangkok. Officials discovered six packets of the illegal substance concealed in his handbag.
Valued at an estimated Rs 6 crore in illicit markets, the ganja has sparked a comprehensive investigation. Initial inquiries suggest Jasmal was financially compensated by a narcotics syndicate. Authorities have launched a probe to uncover the larger network involved.
