Police Officer Reassigned After Student Assault Video Surfaces

Amid public outrage, a police officer has been sent to the reserve police lines for allegedly assaulting a student accused of speeding, according to officials. The incident came to light when a video surfaced online showing Sub-Inspector Amit Vikram Tripathi physically attacking the student, which led to swift action from authorities.

The video captured Tripathi slapping and kicking the student inside a police outpost, despite the student's pleas for mercy. This prompted senior police officials to respond quickly. The student, Akshay Pratap Singh, claimed the officer's actions were unwarranted and unlawful.

Authorities stated that an inquiry is ongoing with Dileep Singh, the Circle Officer of Babupurwa, tasked with conducting the investigation. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Deependra Nath Chaudhary, acted promptly after the video gained traction on social media, ordering the reassignment of Tripathi pending the inquiry.
