Swiss Flotilla Members Allege Inhumane Detention by Israel

Nine Swiss nationals who were part of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla returned to Switzerland, asserting they faced inhumane treatment while detained in Israel. The flotilla, which included the former mayor of Geneva, was stopped by Israeli forces attempting to breach the Gaza blockade.

According to the Waves of Freedom group, which backs the flotilla, detainees experienced harsh conditions such as sleep deprivation and limited access to essentials. However, Israeli authorities denied these allegations, stating all detainees' rights were honored.

Switzerland's embassy has intervened, providing consular support to still-detained nationals. Concerns persist for those on hunger strikes, as international tensions rise over the blockade and ongoing conflict in Gaza.
