A police constable has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle ganja into Colvale Central Jail in North Goa. Officials revealed that after receiving reliable inputs, they intercepted Sumesh Mandrekar, who is accused of carrying about 1.65 kilograms of ganja.
The contraband, split into four separate packets, was seized by authorities during the operation. Mandrekar, belonging to the 2024 batch of constables, was immediately taken into custody and is being subjected to further questioning.
Law enforcement has launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover any additional individuals involved and to understand the network facilitating this drug smuggling attempt inside the high-security prison.
