Ration Scandal Uncovered in Kerala's Tribal Edamalakudy

The Kerala Civil Supplies Department has taken swift action by suspending two of its officials amid a growing scandal involving ration distribution irregularities in Edamalakudy, the state's sole tribal panchayat.

Sources report that the suspensions of Devikulam Taluk Supply Officer Sanjay Nath and former rationing inspector Jayakumar E. come as a vigilance special squad highlighted significant malpractices. The officials remain under scrutiny while eligible for subsistence allowance during this period.

Investigations initiated by a preliminary inquiry unveiled a shortfall of 65 metric tonnes of food grains, spurring further examination by the Idukki District Collector. The spotlight remains on the ration shop licensees and Cooperative Society officials as culpabilities widen.
