AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has publicly rebuked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for what he describes as its foreseeable decision not to escalate the 2006 Malegaon blasts case to the Supreme Court. In a social media post on Friday, Owaisi expressed that such inaction would constitute a 'betrayal' of the victims and their families, suggesting that justice remains elusive for Muslims in India.

The Bombay High Court recently discharged four men who had been accused of orchestrating the serial blasts that devastated Malegaon on September 8, 2006. The tragic event involved four bombs detonating in various locales of Nashik district's Malegaon town, resulting in the loss of 31 lives and wounding 312 people.

Owaisi pointed out a history of investigative missteps, noting the original wrongful arrest of Muslim suspects, who were eventually acquitted. The NIA's subsequent probe implicated right-wing extremists, further complicating the pursuit of justice in a case fraught with political and social tensions.
