Ex-Minister Ziobro's Controversial U.S. Escape Sparks Probe

Zbigniew Ziobro, the former Polish justice minister, has sparked a new controversy after traveling to the United States, according to recent reports by Polish news agency PAP. Ziobro's movements are being closely scrutinized by Polish prosecutors, who are investigating whether he was aided in evading justice.

Ziobro, a pivotal figure in Poland's nationalist conservative government from 2015 to 2023, had secured asylum in Hungary following claims of political persecution. His sudden arrival in the U.S. coincides with Hungary's political transition, marking the end of Viktor Orban's leadership.

Polish authorities, however, continue to pursue charges, including allegations of misusing a fund for violence victims. The national prosecutor's office is actively investigating allegations that Ziobro received help in escaping potential legal accountability.
