Ladakh's New Districts: Paving the Way for Effective Governance

The Ladakh administration announced the formation of a committee on Monday tasked with ensuring the effective operationalisation of five newly established districts in the Union Territory.

This comes after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena gave approval in April for the creation of these districts, namely Changthang, Nubra, Sham, Zanskar, and Drass, meeting a long-standing demand from local residents.

The committee, chaired by the divisional commissioner/secretary of the Revenue Department, will oversee resource distribution and address administrative issues to enhance service delivery and administrative efficiency in these remote regions.
