The wait continues in Norway as the Oslo District Court is set to issue a highly anticipated verdict on June 15 in the criminal trial of Marius Borg Hoiby, the oldest son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The charges against Hoiby include multiple counts of rape and other offenses.

The prosecutors have pushed for a lengthy sentence of seven years and seven months for Hoiby, who has staunchly refuted the rape accusations. Hoiby does not hold any official royal titles but has been under intense public and media scrutiny due to his familial connections.

Hoiby has, however, admitted to lesser offenses, including drug possession and traffic violations, for which his defense team proposes a maximum 18-month sentence. The trial has also stirred additional controversy in the royal family, with separate scrutiny on Princess Mette-Marit's past associations.
