Libyan Authorities Rescue 120 Captive Migrants in Benghazi Raid

Authorities in eastern Libya have successfully rescued 120 migrants who were held captive by human traffickers south of Benghazi. The operation also led to the grim discovery of three bodies on the Mediterranean shore.

The rescue came after an Egyptian migrant, who had escaped captivity, informed security forces about the location where others were detained. Many captives endured harsh conditions, facing torture as traffickers blackmailed their families for ransom.

Libya, a major transit point for migrants heading to Europe, has struggled with security issues since the fall of Gaddafi in 2011. The rescued migrants have been deported, and officials have issued arrest warrants for the traffickers involved.
