Chief Minister Vijay Calls for Swift Diplomacy to Free Fishermen

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has made a fervent appeal to the central government to use all diplomatic avenues to ensure the swift release of Tamil Nadu fishermen and their boats detained by Sri Lanka.
The Chief Minister drew attention to the case of six fishermen from Mandapam, who were apprehended by the Sri Lankan navy for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.
Vijay noted that 54 fishermen are currently held in Sri Lankan prisons, and 264 boats have been seized, urging External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to address these concerns with the Sri Lankan authorities to secure the detainees' safe return.
