Revamping Taxation: India Introduces Simplified Income Tax Act 2025
The newly introduced Income Tax Act aims to simplify compliance, reduce litigation, and create a transparent ecosystem via technology. Spearheaded by Vivek Wadekar, the Act emphasizes voluntary compliance and includes initiatives like 'Kar Saathi' and 'Kar Setu' to aid taxpayers. Outreach programs and educational initiatives are being organized across Maharashtra.
The new Income Tax Act, effective from April 1, 2026, is set to transform India's taxation landscape by reducing litigation and simplifying compliance. The move, announced by Vivek Wadekar, streamlines the complex provisions of the previous law and aims to foster transparency through technology-driven initiatives.
Central to this transition are digital tools like 'Kar Saathi', an AI-powered chatbot providing 24x7 assistance, and 'Kar Setu', offering FAQs and brochures in simplified language. These measures aim to encourage voluntary compliance and ease taxpayer interactions with authorities.
To boost awareness, the Income Tax Department is conducting educational outreach across Maharashtra, including a mega event under 'PRARAMBH 2026'. Aimed at familiarizing taxpayers with the Act, these initiatives involve collaboration with legal professionals, chartered accountants, and industry representatives.
