The footage, capturing Pinky walking without handcuffs and joking with policemen, circulated widely, prompting Karachi police chief Azad Khan to initiate a high-level inquiry. The officials implicated in the incident have been suspended as the investigation unfolds to address the public's concerns.
Pinky, a suspect in an international drug cartel, was apprehended with cocaine, other drugs, and a revolver worth millions. She has long been suspected of operating a sprawling drug and illegal arms trade in Karachi. The court has remanded her to judicial custody pending further proceedings.
