In a significant breakthrough, Delhi police have arrested a man who allegedly posed as an air-conditioning (AC) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) mechanic to rob several residents in the northwest parts of the city. The accused, identified as Ajay Bagga, had prompted a widespread panic after being seen in CCTV footage circulating online.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akanksha Yadav, disclosed that Bagga would roam residential areas with a plastic blue bag, knocking on doors under the guise of a mechanic. Once a resident opened the door, he would attack and rob them. His activities led to the formation of a special task force that, after extensive investigation and surveillance, successfully captured him.
Police have connected Bagga to at least two separate First Information Reports (FIRs), with details emerging about his modus operandi. In one incident, he assaulted a known acquaintance and robbed him of cash and gold. Another attempted robbery was thwarted by a woman, leading to Bagga's escape and eventual arrest. Investigations are ongoing to determine his involvement in other similar crimes.
