The Crime Branch of Odisha Police has made significant progress in the investigation of a gruesome mob lynching case. The incident occurred on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, where a GRP constable was killed after allegedly attempting to rape a woman.

Thirteen suspects, including the main accused, Chinu alias Ranjit Patra, have been apprehended. Arrests were based on video evidence of the attack, which showed the constable being violently assaulted with a bamboo stick after being immobilized by locals.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi intervened, directing the Crime Branch to lead the investigation given the case's severity. As investigations continue, authorities are focused on identifying all 16 individuals involved and addressing the sensitive allegations of sexual assault attached to the case.
