Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has committed to releasing the May installment of Rs 1,000 under the 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai' scheme soon. This announcement addresses a scheme originally implemented by the earlier DMK regime and named after M Karunanidhi.
According to a government release, the funds will be deposited directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. CM Vijay emphasized the need to restructure the scheme, despite calls for immediate action.
DMK president M K Stalin expressed concerns over the delay, questioning the necessity for restructuring and calling for prompt deposit of funds, highlighting differences in the current administration's approach.
