In a powerful address at the R N Kao Memorial Lecture, India's Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, called for uniform global laws and processes to tackle drug trafficking. He emphasized the need for synchronized action to extradite drug kingpins and share intelligence globally, underlining the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in aiming for a Drug-Free India by 2047.

Shah highlighted the strategic efforts of Indian security agencies in preparing a roadmap to eradicate drug syndicates and appealed for international cooperation. He urged attending ambassadors and diplomats from over 40 countries to join India's efforts, stressing the long-term impacts of drug trafficking on society and the importance of a united fight against narco-networks and states.

Emphasizing the humanitarian and security implications of drug abuse, Shah drew attention to the support India has received in returning over 40 transnational criminals. However, he asserted that much remains to be done, advocating for collective resolve and coordinated global operations to effectively combat the drug menace that threatens public health and national security.
