The Supreme Court, on Monday, granted bail to retired IAS officer Anil Tuteja in a corruption case tied to the District Mineral Fund (DMF). The decision was made by a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi.

Tuteja, arrested in February 2026 for his involvement in the DMF case, has been in custody since January 2024. Senior advocate Shoeb Alam argued for Tuteja's release, highlighting that co-accused individuals had already been granted bail. The court noted that the accusations, though serious, require examination through a lengthy trial process, leading to the decision to release him on bail.

Imposed conditions mandate Tuteja's absence from Chhattisgarh. Though opposed by Additional Advocate General Ravi Sharma, citing Tuteja's alleged actions as a prime conspirator, the court focused on the unresolved nature of these accusations pending trial. The bench emphasized the need for allegations to be substantiated in court, given other accused have bail, and 85 witnesses are expected to testify.
