Police have arrested six people in connection with an alleged attack on a mining department officer in Balasore's Khaira area. The incident occurred during a night patrol, leaving Junior Mining Officer Abhisekh Behera unscathed despite stones being hurled at his vehicle, police sources confirmed.
Following the attack, Behera immediately sought protection at the nearby Khaira police station where he lodged a formal complaint against the assailants. This quick response underscores the ongoing tension surrounding mining operations in the region.
Authorities have since seized two cars and five motorcycles linked to the arrested individuals, further intensifying investigations into the motive behind the attack, police officials added.
