A junior assistant in the Public Health Engineering Department office in Jammu has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,500, officials reported on Monday.
The arrest followed a complaint alleging that the assistant demanded a bribe to process a pension case. In an elaborate sting operation, the CBI set a trap and caught the accused using a QR code payment method.
Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing. The CBI emphasized their ongoing commitment to eradicate corruption, pledging stringent actions against corrupt public servants.
