Supreme Court Weighs Conciliation in Reliance's Gas Dispute

The Supreme Court has taken a significant step by agreeing to entertain a fresh request from Reliance Industries Ltd to amicably resolve the Krishna-Godavari basin gas migration dispute with the Centre.

A bench consisting of the Chief Justice of India, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi, noted the submission by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, indicating the desire for conciliation talks.

Attorney General R Venkataramani expressed the government's openness to this approach, prompting the court to adjourn its hearing to a later date in July, highlighting a mutual interest in a bilateral dispute resolution process.
