Bageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was brought into police custody on Wednesday for further questioning related to a POCSO case. He had been under judicial custody since his arrest on May 16 and was previously denied interim protection by the Telangana High Court.
The POCSO case arose from a complaint filed on May 8 by the mother of a 17-year-old, who claimed that Bageerath was in a relationship with her daughter and sexually assaulted her. In response, Bageerath lodged a counter-complaint, asserting that the girl's family pressured him into marriage and threatened false accusations if he refused.
