Police Charge 300 After Clash with Enforcement Directorate Officials in Kerala

In the wake of raids connected to former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, around 300 people have been booked for reportedly assaulting Enforcement Directorate officials in the state. The violent episode unfolded after authorities searched premises linked to a money laundering probe involving Vijayan's daughter.

The Kerala Police, citing the First Information Report, noted charges under various sections, including unlawful assembly, rioting, and attempted murder. The Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act has also been invoked. Allegations indicate the crowd was armed with sticks and stones, creating chaos that resulted in injuries to several officers and damages estimated at Rs 3 lakh.

Officials are reviewing footage and evidence to identify the culprits, further fueled by the lack of arrests so far. The raid aimed to investigate financial connections with a sand mining company, focusing on transactions involving Vijayan's daughter's firm.
