The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the Election Commission's authority to carry out a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. The Court endorsed this procedure, highlighting its importance in reinforcing the constitutional mandate to ensure elections are fair and just.
Other notable Supreme Court proceedings include a review of a Central Board of Secondary Education policy requiring Class 9 students to learn three languages, a ruling on GST for online gaming, and a decision to allow the Manipur government to appoint a state's director general of police from outside the cadre. Additionally, the Court set aside a previous NCLAT ruling involving Amazon and Future Group, while also addressing issues like VVPAT guidelines, online hearings, and the fast-tracking of various trials.
