CPI(M) Denounces Police Action During Protest Against ED Raids

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders, including M A Baby, have accused Delhi Police of misusing force during a protest against Enforcement Directorate raids. The demonstration, held at the ED headquarters, protested actions involving former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan linked to a money laundering investigation.

CPI(M) condemned the police handling, claiming manhandling occurred, especially towards women participants. Despite the detentions, CPI(M) assured continuous protests nationwide against what it views as systematic targeting of opposition figures. They argue the searches, including those at Vijayan's residence, are unjust and politically motivated.

Allegations of brutal treatment surfaced, with party members like Brinda Karat blaming the government for weaponizing agencies to suppress dissenting voices. M A Baby criticized the police for taking detained protesters far from the city and emphasized no illegal finds were reported from Vijayan's residence. Party leaders drew comparisons with similar actions against other opposition counterparts to stress their claims of government intimidation.
