Delhi Court Denies Pre-Arrest Bail in Protest Linked to DD News Office

A court in Delhi has refused a pre-arrest bail application pertaining to a protest incident outside the Doordarshan Bhawan, citing the necessity for custodial interrogation to explore the broader scheme.

The protest on April 14 was against DD News' Ashok Shrivastav, accused of making inappropriate remarks about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The decision was based on serious allegations surfacing against Ranvir Singhania, who allegedly facilitated the protest.

Judge Shefali Barnala Tandon noted the need for the accused's custody to help identify others involved, referencing CCTV evidence showing Singhania bringing protestors in vehicles with Rajasthan plates. The court emphasized that the investigation is crucial for understanding the full scope of the incident, justifying the denial of bail.

The court's determination stressed that its remarks should not influence future trial outcomes, maintaining an objective stance on the unfolding legal process.
