In West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, Trinamool Congress MP Sougata Roy encountered a hostile reception with demonstrators hurling eggs at his vehicle and calling him a thief. The incident unfolded at the Nimta police station where the 78-year-old MP had gone to discuss alleged attacks on TMC councillors.
As Roy attempted to depart from the station, he was surrounded by protestors who shouted slogans against him and engaged in the egg pelting. Police intervened to calm the situation, which Roy described as a politically motivated act orchestrated by BJP supporters. However, the BJP distanced itself from the event, asserting the protest stemmed from local unrest regarding corruption issues under TMC governance.
