Widespread Protests in Karnataka as Siddaramaiah Steps Down

Karnataka saw a wave of protests as supporters of Siddaramaiah expressed their dismay at his resignation as chief minister. Demonstrators gathered in various cities, including Bengaluru, where emotional scenes erupted as people urged him not to step down.

Protesters, particularly from the Kuruba community, organized demonstrations in towns like Shivamogga and Yadgir, expressing their support for Siddaramaiah and discontent with the Congress leadership's decision. They demanded that his resignation be rejected, warning of further agitation if the decision stands.

The protests saw supporters burning tyres, forming human chains, and even a near-suicidal act by a protester expressing his willingness to sacrifice his life for Siddaramaiah. Key locations like Kalaburagi and Hubballi also witnessed significant agitation.

Siddaramaiah acknowledged his resignation two days after the Congress high command requested his exit, thanking party leaders for allowing him to serve Karnataka during his tenure.
