The Supreme Court of India decided not to overturn the anticipatory bail granted by the Allahabad High Court to Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, who faces allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh rejected the appeal by Ashutosh Brahmachari, maintaining the high court's earlier order. The Allahabad High Court had previously issued bail to both Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciple Mukundanand Brahmachari, coupled with a directive preventing them and the first informant from speaking to media outlets. The court also instructed the parties involved to participate actively in the ongoing investigation related to the reported sexual exploitation of young disciples, known as 'batuks'.
