S Ramesh, the Tamil Nadu Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, undertook a covert operation at the Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple following allegations of corruption. Disguised as a worshiper, Ramesh was reportedly asked to pay money by a temple priest to ensure a quicker darshan experience.

The surprise inspection was initiated after claims surfaced that certain temple staff were soliciting payments illicitly. The minister confirmed that a priest and several temple guards were suspended or terminated due to their involvement in the scheme. According to Ramesh, a detailed report will be shared with Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to ensure stringent actions against malpractices.
