In West Bengal, financial aid under the Annapurna Yojana is set to roll out beginning June 3. Beneficiaries, chiefly women, will receive direct deposits of Rs 3,000 into their bank accounts.
The program's launch follows criticism of the detailed 12-page application form, which some claim could add barriers for genuine recipients. Suvendu Adhikari assured that government staff would assist with the application process, alleviating concerns of exclusion.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state's commitment to financial transparency and highlighted measures taken to prevent ineligible individuals from exploiting the scheme. Recent arrests of men unlawfully receiving funds underline the government's resolve.
Additionally, Adhikari revealed that women travelers will soon enjoy free bus services from June 1, fulfilling a previous electoral promise. The forthcoming state budget announcement on June 22 aims to align with public expectations.
