CPI Criticizes Violence Against TMC's Abhishek Banerjee in West Bengal

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has expressed its strong opposition to the persistent violence unfolding in West Bengal following the state elections, particularly highlighting the attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee. According to D Raja, the CPI general secretary, such actions undermine democratic principles.

Raja remarked that elections should showcase the democratic will rather than become events marked by violence and intimidation. His comments followed an incident where Abhishek Banerjee was assaulted by unidentified assailants in Sonarpur, leading to severe criticism of law enforcement. The CPI called for the authorities to maintain impartiality and bring perpetrators, regardless of political affiliation, to justice.

The BJP has been placed under scrutiny for the escalating disorder, especially given reports implicating its supporters in violent activities, including attacks on political offices and vandalism of public symbols. The CPI demands accountability to restore order and ensure peace in the politically charged atmosphere of West Bengal.
